Gin Gin - Stormwater
Gin Gin, Western Australia
We were engaged to assist with the construction of stormwater infrastructure and driveway crossovers within the Gin Gin civil works project. The scope involved forming and finishing stormwater manhole benching to ensure correct water flow, along with constructing concrete driveway crossovers connecting properties to the road network.
Contract Type: Sub ContractorYear completed: 2025
Project Details
Project planning
Prior to commencing works, stormwater manholes and crossover locations were reviewed against the engineering design drawings to confirm levels, gradients and positioning.
Problem solving
Extreme weather conditions required adjustments to concrete placement and curing times to prevent premature drying and maintain finish quality.
Completion goal
The project was planned and executed with a focus on timely and high-quality completion. All manhole benching and driveway crossovers were installed to design specifications, ready for inspection and handover to the client.
Site management
Site areas were organised to allow smooth movement of equipment and personnel, reducing delays and maintaining a clean and safe working environment.
Project Challenges
Extreme Heat Conditions
Controls such as hydration breaks, shaded rest areas and monitoring for heat stress were implemented to protect workers.
Confined Work Areas
Stormwater manholes provided limited working space, requiring safe entry procedures, communication between workers and proper manual handling techniques.
Concrete Curing
Hot weather required careful monitoring of curing times to ensure the concrete maintained strength and proper finishing quality.
Driveway Crossover Levels
Crossovers had to be constructed with accurate levels and gradients to ensure smooth vehicle access while maintaining effective drainage to the road and stormwater system.
